DENTASA is a voluntary Association to promote the interests and needs of the dental technology profession.

How do we achieve this?

At a recent workshop attended by a wide range of individuals involved with DENTASA and dental technology, attendees were tasked with setting values to achieve this vision. Six values were agreed on and three branches each got two values to discuss and determine an action plan as to how to achieve them.

Scope of Practice

Scope of Practice is a terminology used for various professions that defines the procedures, actions, and processes that are permitted for the licensed individual. The scope of practice is limited to that which the law allows for specific education and experience, and specific demonstrated competency.

In short it describes what we do and how we do it.

Additional comments:
Two comments:

·         If “appropriate clinical professional” is left out work cannot be done (as some technicians do) for maxillo-facial surgeons/specialists or other medical clinicians  who are not dentists. i.e. maxillo-facial prostheses and reconstructive structures/implants .

·         The main purpose of the SOPs are to accommodate the Consumer Protection Act, and for now it is only critical to concentrate on technicians and technologists. The rest are currently not affected by this.
